History of the Lot: From Legacy to Landmark

The Story Behind the Name

The name "1881 Eats" honors the year Rogers was founded, reflecting the community's pride in its small-town heritage and steady growth.

Site Evolution

Original Plan

Originally, the site was designated to host a Veterans Memorial. After careful consideration, the memorial was relocated to City Park, where it will sit prominently along the walking trail for greater visibility and access once complete.

2024

During early construction, work was temporarily paused following the discovery of an underground fuel tank. The tank was safely removed under TCEQ oversight, and the site has since been cleared for public use.

2025

With the lot cleared and upgraded, Rogers is proud to unveil a project that creates space for future community gatherings and vendors.
