Summers are warm and winters are mild, which means there is room for year-round activities. Healthcare, education, and retail are big employers, and the presence of Fort Cavazos contributes to the regional economy and culture.

Living costs are generally lower than many other parts of Texas. Local events and festivals bring the community together, and the area's friendly atmosphere makes it appealing to newcomers. Expect a strong sense of community and plenty of ways to engage.
