A transparent look at what the Rogers MDD is working on - past, present, and future.
City of Rogers Logo Redesign
Completed Project Year: 2025About This Project
As Rogers grows and the MDD continues pursuing new development opportunities, the community felt it was time for an updated city logo - one that could represent the city's identity with clarity and pride for decades to come. The MDD took the lead in funding this initiative, commissioning Ciaburri Brand Strategy, a well-regarded design firm with deep roots in municipal branding across Texas, including work for the City of Killeen.
The designer brought a personal connection to the project alongside professional expertise, making the process collaborative and meaningful from the start. The goal from the beginning was simple: a clean, timeless logo that reflects what matters most to the people of Rogers - our history, our character, and where we're headed.
Several renderings were proposed, each capturing different facets of Rogers' story. From those options, the community's two favorites were selected, and the City Council voted on the final design for official use. The logo carries two important dates: 1881, when Rogers began to take shape, and 1899, when it was officially incorporated as a city.
This project is a small but meaningful example of the MDD's broader mission - investing in Rogers' identity, its infrastructure, and its future.
Veterans Memorial Garden
Pending Grant Last updated: 2026About This Project
Honoring the veterans of Rogers has always been a priority for the MDD. The Veterans Memorial has been relocated to City Park, where it will become the centerpiece of a memorial walk-style garden integrated into the park's trail system.
This placement gives the memorial far greater visibility and accessibility than its previous location. Being part of an active walking path means more people will encounter and engage with it naturally.
A generous donation was received from a local business to help fund this project. The City is actively pursuing a grant that would provide the funding needed to move the broader park development forward, and the Veteran Garden is tied to that effort.
Once the City secures the grant, the MDD will be ready to move quickly. Until then, the donation remains held in good faith and reserved for this project.

1881 Eats - Food Truck Court
Active Last updated: 2025About This Project
The name says it all - 1881 is the year Rogers was first established, a nod to the town's roots even before it was officially incorporated as a city in 1899.
The lot that is now 1881 Eats was originally gifted to the City of Rogers, which invited the MDD to develop it. The original vision was to use the site as the Veterans Memorial Garden, but the location ultimately was not the right fit. The MDD pivoted to a food truck court, creating a dedicated space for vendors and local sales activity.
During excavation, heavy machinery uncovered an abandoned underground gas tank from an old gas station. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) became involved to ensure proper assessment, removal, disposal, and clearance before construction continued.
Custom signage and branding were created, and 1881 Eats is now open for business. Food trucks interested in operating at 1881 Eats must register through City Hall and provide standard business documentation, including an EIN number.
For full vendor requirements and more information, visit the 1881 Eats page. Future aesthetic enhancements - shading, lighting, and additional seating - are planned as resources allow.

Local Business Collaboration
Active Last updated: 2026About This Initiative
The new overpass has brought both opportunity and uncertainty for businesses operating along affected corridors in Rogers. The MDD took a proactive approach by inviting local business owners to a collaborative meeting at the start of 2026.
Attendance was strong, the conversation was energetic, and a wide range of ideas emerged around how to support and sustain Rogers' local economy throughout the changes that come with growth.
One thing that sets MDD meetings apart from City Council meetings: you do not have to be a Rogers resident to attend. If you have any connection to people or businesses in Rogers, you are welcome at the table.
If you are a local business owner, have ideas for how Rogers can position itself for growth, or want to learn how the MDD can help support your business, we encourage you to come to a meeting.
Lot & Land Acquisitions
In Progress Last updated: 2026About This Initiative
One of the most foundational things the MDD can do for Rogers' long-term development is ensure the right land is in the right hands before opportunities pass. The MDD is actively in the process of acquiring lots and land for future city and business development.
As the City works through approval of updated ordinances and zoning maps, the MDD is identifying and securing parcels that fall within proposed zoning areas and align with the community's growth vision.
Do you own land or lots in or around Rogers? If your property is near a main road, or if you believe it could serve a meaningful purpose for the city or local businesses, we want to hear from you.
Reach out to Jesus Mejia with details about your property, including location, size, and asking price. The MDD reviews all inquiries and will follow up as appropriate.
